Check out some fantastic insights into the text written by Claire!
“I wrote it in response to the lockdown we saw coming when Covid19 cases rocketed in Italy. I have spent most of my life on the coast of Exmoor and have only lived on the edge of a city for a few months. The sense of being less than 10 miles from the sea, but unable to access it struck me hard. So I wrote it to ease my spirit.
In the writing process I understood that I had taken for granted being able to walk to the beach from my house.
Hearing other voices read my words is delightful and made me feel the poem as if it were not mine. The graphics encapsulate the feelings I was aiming for.”
